This year is the third death anniversary of Ven. Master Hsing Yun. His holy relics kept in the Taiwan monastery will be distributed as those of the Buddha were distributed. Ven. Master Hsing Yun was a philanthropist who undertook numerous works for social welfare. Fo Guang Shan the organisation established by him is still trying to realise his dreams. The organisation actively participates in the field of education and social service. It runs orphanages, old age homes, and drug rehabilitation centres. It has also taken part in some international relief efforts. Now the Order has 300 branches in Taiwan as well as several branches in more than 50 countries.

Ven. Master Hsing Yun was also a prolific writer who wrote several books to help the common people to have a virtuous and fulfilling life. We have translated some of his books into Bengali. Though he is no more with us his example will always inspire us to achieve something great and noble. May his scared memories live with us forever.

Ven. Master Hsing Yun will always inspire us by his teachings, social service and writings. In today's world of strife and tension his absence will always be felt and he will be remembered as a lighthouse of peace and solace.

পূজনীয় গুরু শিং ইউন

এই বছরটি পূজনীয় গুরু শিং ইউনের তৃতীয় প্রয়াণবার্ষিকী। তাইওয়ানের মঠে সংরক্ষিত তাঁর পবিত্র দেহাবশেষ ঠিক সেভাবেই বিতরণ করা হবে, যেভাবে বুদ্ধের দেহাবশেষ বিতরণ করা হয়েছিল। পূজনীয় গুরু শিং ইউন ছিলেন একজন জনহিতৈষী, যিনি সমাজকল্যাণমূলক অসংখ্য কাজ সম্পাদন করেছিলেন। তাঁর প্রতিষ্ঠিত সংস্থা ‘ফো গুয়াং শান’ (Fo Guang Shan) আজও তাঁর স্বপ্ন বাস্তবায়নে সচেষ্ট রয়েছে। শিক্ষা ও সমাজসেবার ক্ষেত্রে এই সংস্থাটি অত্যন্ত সক্রিয় ভূমিকা পালন করে থাকে। এটি এতিমখানা, বৃদ্ধাশ্রম এবং মাদকাসক্তি নিরাময় কেন্দ্র পরিচালনা করে। এছাড়াও, সংস্থাটি বেশ কিছু আন্তর্জাতিক ত্রাণ কার্যক্রমেও অংশগ্রহণ করেছে। বর্তমানে এই সংঘের তাইওয়ানে ৩০০টি শাখা এবং বিশ্বের ৫০টিরও বেশি দেশে আরও বেশ কিছু শাখা রয়েছে।

পূজনীয় গুরু শিং ইউন ছিলেন একজন অত্যন্ত প্রখ্যাত ও সৃষ্টিশীল লেখক; সাধারণ মানুষকে একটি সৎ ও সার্থক জীবন যাপনে সহায়তা করার লক্ষ্যে তিনি বেশ কিছু গ্রন্থ রচনা করেছিলেন। আমরা তাঁর রচিত কয়েকটি গ্রন্থ বাংলায় অনুবাদ করেছি। যদিও তিনি আজ আর আমাদের মাঝে নেই, তবুও তাঁর আদর্শ সর্বদা আমাদের মহৎ ও কল্যাণকর কিছু অর্জনে অনুপ্রাণিত করবে। তাঁর পবিত্র স্মৃতি আমাদের মাঝে চিরঞ্জীব হয়ে থাকুক।

পূজনীয় গুরু শিং ইউন তাঁর শিক্ষা, সমাজসেবা এবং লেখনীর মাধ্যমে সর্বদা আমাদের অনুপ্রাণিত করে যাবেন। বর্তমান বিশ্বের সংঘাত ও উত্তেজনাময় পরিস্থিতিতে তাঁর অনুপস্থিতি সর্বদা অনুভূত হবে এবং শান্তি ও সান্ত্বনার এক আলোকবর্তিকা হিসেবে তিনি চিরস্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকবেন।
